FATALE The Deluxe Edition Volume One
FATALE: DELUXE EDITION, VOL. 1 HC
story ED BRUBAKER
art / cover SEAN PHILLIPS
MARCH 5 / 288 PAGES / FC / M / $39.99
Collects FATALE #1-10
The best-selling, award-winning team of ED BRUBAKER and SEAN PHILLIPS finally bring their hit book FATALE to the gorgeous Deluxe format they helped pioneer.
Josephine is cursed, and in a series that darkly blends American crime noir with unnamed Lovecraftian horrors, we follow her from 1950s San Francisco, where crooked cops hide deeper evils, to mid-'70s L.A., where burnt-out actors and ex-cult groupies are caught in a web around a satanic snuff film...and in the middle of it all is Josephine, with a power to die or kill for.
This beautiful oversized edition contains all the extras that BRUBAKER and PHILLIPS fans have come to expect from their deluxe hardbacks, including behind-the-scenes art and stories, sketches and layouts, back page illustrations, and several of Jess Nevins' historical essays, as well.

Gregory's Girl
My friend David Holman sent me this the other day, a poster I drew for a showing of Gregory's Girl at my old school back in 1982. I'd love to include it in volume 2 of The Art Of Sean Phillips if there ever is one!

Well, The Art Of Sean Phillips book should have shipped today, but apparently it's held up in customs. New on-sale date is now November 6th. I'll have about a dozen copies with me at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in Kendal, Cumbria this weekend though if anybody wants one...

There was talk a few years ago of putting out a new edition of A Complete Lowlife, a collection of Ed Brubaker's auto bio indie comics. I was going to design the book but this was as far as I got, a rough for the cover...

Photo ref shot for the cover of Kid Eternity #12.
To get the double light source, I stood out in the street in the sun, took two photos facing in opposite directions and cut and pasted them together. Much easier nowadays with a couple of studio spotlights.

Here's sketches of the 12 Angry Men... Some changed before I did the final painting, but most were approved straight away.

The first three pages of a planned devil-worship epic drawn when I was 13 or so. Written with my old mate David Holman, who I did the Kids From Rec Road with.
That empty panel on page three was meant to contain an interior of the vicarage. Obviously I thought it was too difficult to draw, and that was as far as we got with this story...
