Ed liked the Criminal cover rough, so I've started the final painting today. It's going very slowly, and this is as far as I've got... I'm pleased with this face although I've still got a long way to go. All done with acrylic inks so far.

Seven Psychos

Started another batch of Seven Psychos pages today. This page isn't quite finished, I still have to ink in the tank in the background of panel one.

No more work for a couple of days as I'm away to London tomorrow to see the UK premiere of Superman Returns (and to hang out at the after show party star-spotting).

Painted the second Freakshow cover today. Mostly inks with a little acrylic. Bit of Photoshop on the eyes...

Kirby

Got the latest Essential Fantastic Four this week featuring the last issues Jack Kirby pencilled. I was inspired today to finish the inks on this Captain America piece over a copy of Kirby's pencils. I started this months ago but wasn't pleased with how it was going. After drawing a lot of Kirby characters in Marvel Zombies and inking JL Garcia Lopez and Rick Leonardi on JLA I felt more confident about having another go with these inks. Might even try colouring it next, but first back to some paying work...

Thumbnails

Haven't managed much drawing yet today. I've been thumbnailing and lettering a couple of sequences from Seven Psychos and trying to put off as long as possible taking some photo ref. I hate shooting the photo ref and wish I'd learnt to draw instead. It's too hot today to cavort infront of a camera pretending to be Hitler.

Stan and Jack!

Last week I mentioned the mini-comics my friend Pete Doree produces. He's kindly let me plug his work and reproduce a few pages of the first issue of Stan and Jack here...
It's a great read and really captures the public persona of Lee and Kirby as well as Gil Kane and Steve Ditko. He had a good write-up in Jack Kirby Collector a few months ago. Copies are available from him at petedoree@aol.com
