To be fair, Robert did give me a list of characters...
Panel one: HUGE wide panel (stretching across both pages): We’re in a S.H.I.E.L.D. meeting room. Fury stands in the front of the room, near profile, closest in the foreground. He’s addressing what’s left of the Marvel Universe. The X-Men are there with Magneto, The New Warriors, Nova included are there, Thor, The Fantastic Four, Bruce Banner, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Moon Knight, The Vision, Tigra, Wonder Man, Black Night, Darkhawk, Sleepwalker (in the back at least, throw me a bone!), Falcon, Spider-Woman (whichever), U.S. Agent, Ant-Man (Scott Lang), The Inhumans… bunches of others if you want to throw in more… whatever. This is the huge, Marvel Crossover, meeting scene… so if I haven’t shown them as zombies yet, feel free to draw them here.

How do you go about finishing that drawing? Im always looking for ways to "cheat" crowd scenes etc. Isthis a case where you cant because of the need for these certain characters to be present?
I'm all for cheating usually, but you're right, this time I'll have to draw everybody! I'll go straight to inks from this with plenty of ref for the characters by my side. I'll post the inks as I go on...
Sorry Robert, you're probably right. It was quicker to draw than for you to write so far. I'm looking at at least a day to ink though. I'm not complaining though, your stuff is always fun to draw.
Very cool piece, Sean!
ReplyDeleteJust out of curiosity, what did Kirkman's description read as? "Every Marvel character you could fit in a double-page spread?"
