Spent the last couple of days thumbnailing Void 01, a 46 page album I'm drawing for Delcourt in France, due out next year. It's a cat and mouse sci-fi story set on a prison ship in the depths of space. I've not really done a sci-fi story before, so I'm quite nervous about it. I feel better after doing these thumbnails though, it's not quite so daunting now.

CRIMINAL The Last Of The Innocent

Out in June...

CRIMINAL: The Last of the Innocent #1
By Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips with Val Staples on colors

The best-selling crime comic finally returns, and with their most ambitious story yet. Obsession, sex, money, murder, and nostalgia for days long past all collide in THE LAST OF THE INNOCENT.

Riley Richards got it all… The hottest girl in school and a ticket to the big time… so why isn’t he happy now? Why is he getting involved in gambling and drugs and shady characters in the city? Why can’t he forget the life he left behind in small town Brookview? And why is he suddenly plotting murder?

And as always, each issue of Criminal contains unique back-up features, articles and artwork, which are only available in the single issues.

32 PGS/Mature Content… $3.50

The Guild Variant Cover

Felicia Day (W), Sean Becker (W), Andrew Currie (A), Michelle Madsen (C), Karl Kerschl (Regular Cover), Farel Dalrymple (Variant Cover), Sean Phillips (Anniversary Variant Cover)

On sale June 22

FC, 32 pages

The Guild creator and star Felicia Day is joined by series director Sean Becker for a new one-shot starring the Knights of Good’s brash young rogue, Bladezz!

In this issue, it’s the secret origin of Bladezz’s alter ego, the supernaturally gifted model Finn Smulders! When all he wants is a place to play the Game, and faced with a controlling mother, know-it-all sister, and obnoxious potential stepfather, can Bladezz use Smulders’s “powers” to save the day? Can he keep his new identity secret? And can any good possibly come of fatherly advice from Vork?

• Written by series creator and star Felicia Day and director Sean Becker!

• Covers by Karl Kerschl, Farel Dalrymple, and Sean Phillips!

“It’s hard to believe The Guild is Day’s first foray into comics. Day manages to translate Cyd into this new medium with all the same quirks, timing, and personality of her live-action character.”  —MTV’s Splash Page

Jelly Legs

Second long walk of the week up above Ullswater...

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

Actually left the studio today, and went for an eight mile walk around Tarn Hows. Felt positively spring like, and it was good to get out and about. Back to work tomorrow.
